If you haven’t caught an episode of Design Your Life Style with Barry and Joni, set your DVRs, because this is a show fans of design will not want to miss.
Barry Lantz and I go back over twenty years to when, as an interior designer, Barry designed more than thirty homes for McKenzie homeowners. Working with him, I always admired the high standard of design and service Barry brought to his clients. Barry later met FOX59’s Joni Michels when he was host of the station’s weekly design segment called “Thursdays with Barry.” Now, they’re co-hosts of the area’s only full half-hour show devoted to design and style, and McKenzie is proud to once again be working with Barry as a sponsor of his and Joni’s show.
According to Producer and Director Betsy Williams, “The show is all about lifestyle—from home design to personal fashion. We bring in all kinds of experts with advice and tips on topics like lighting, floral arranging, you name it.”
What I really like is the show’s design philosophy, which emphasizes the idea that everyone’s unique lifestyle has unique needs. One person’s gorgeous home may not be ideal for anyone else, because good design is based on a set of person-by-person priorities, not just popular trends. We’re always talking with our own clients about personalizing their design for their lifestyles, and Barry and Joni have a lot to add to the conversation.
On September 21st and 28th, you can watch me discuss more of my design philosophies with Barry and Joni on set in one of our McKenzie homes. The show airs at 11:30AM on RTV6, and you can always catch up with online episodes later.
